The project site is located in the historic city center, on a Spree river island in the district of Berlin-Mitte. At present, it is public street land that within the framework of planning the repair of the urban layout has been declared a construction lot. Its situation on the future reconstructed Schlossplatz is unique and a matter of public importance. Transcending by far the function of spatial closure of the square, it constitutes both an obligation and a challenge.

Australia "Ideas on Edge" competition

Parramatta City Council is officially on the hunt for the boldest, most innovative and creative thinkers to present their vision for an iconic site along the scenic Parramatta River foreshore as part of an international ideas competition, 'Ideas on Edge'. the are seeking a commercially viable idea for the site located at a prime position on the edge of Parramatta River, with the competition open to people of all ages and backgrounds from around the world.

Competition closes on Wednesday 11 May 2011





John M. Clancy Award for Socially Responsible Housing

The intent of this award is to recognize and encourage excellence in the planning, design, construction and maintenance of socially responsible housing by honoring an organization, a group or an individual who has been a major force behind one or more built developments.

new Russia: Changing the Face

An international "open ideas" competition aimed at inspiring architects, designers, builders, students... across borders to design a new face for an existing building, and think creatively about possible applications of DuPont materials and solutions in their projects. This year, the public eyes will turn to the "Pushkinsky theatre", the well-known cinema hall located at Pushkin Square, in the very centre of Moscow, built in 1961 to host every year the Moscow International Film Festival.

Venice City Vision Design Competition, Italy


City Vision announce the ideas competition about the city of Venice “Venice City Vision Competition”. Venice City Vision Competition is the second edition of the international competition series promoted by City Vision Mag. The purpose of Venice’s competition was to give the opportunity to architects, designers and students to activate their creativity to stimulate the contemporary potential of the city and besides wanting to enhance the historic texture of the city, sees on the aquatic identity of the lagoon a fundamental starting point to create new visions about a possible development of this component. The imagination of the participants, the use of parametric software and eco technology will be the main driver of Venice’s visions and the proposals will shown how to create new digital landscape for a city so connected to classicism and tradition.

Sustainable Design Awards

All project types completed after January 1, 2002, that demonstrate the systematic integration of sustainability are eligible. The jury may elect to honor projects by building type or category (rehabs, interiors, housing, etc.) or may honor projects without making such distinctions.

The Carlsberg Brewhouse Project

Carlsberg Group hereby announces an international design competition to transform the New Carlsberg Brewhouse into an exciting, must-see Brand and Experience Centre, attracting 500,000 visitors each year.


The aim is to create a world-class attraction with a broad appeal to visitors who wish to be challenged, engaged and entertained by one of the world's strongest brands. The main focus is on the transformation on the Brewhouse and the Elephant Gate but should also describe how Carlsberg Group can re-enforce, strengthen and further develop its presence in the Carlsberg site.

The design competition is launched on April 5th 2011 and Carlsberg welcomes proposals from all over the world. Following a pre-qualification stage, 4-6 selected teams within the fields of brand experience and development, visitor attraction and architecture will be invited to submit their proposals. The winner will be announced in spring 2012.

new UK: Olympic Games Information Pavilion competition

The Olympic Games sees the biggest and most prestigious sporting event in the world being staged for the unprecedented third time in London next year, thus making London the first city in the world to host the modern summer games for a third time.

London is the largest urban zone in the European Union with a cosmopolitan population of over 7.7 million residence. The London Games is being eagerly anticipated by millions of sporting fans around the world. The Games, which officially kicks off on the 27th July 2012 will see the arrival of world’s top athletes and their team officials representing various participating nations, international dignitaries, the Games officials and not to mention millions of supporters and fans.

The aim of this International competition is to design a temporary, freestanding information pavilion within the world famous Trafalgar Square in the Heart of London during the 2012 Games. The competition hopes to achieve the following:

_Encourage and reward design excellence at a small scale which integrates function, structure, details
and the spirit of the games.
_Research, respond to and highlight the unique aspects of designing an information pavilion that will be used by visitors during the games.
_Encourage the employment of sustainable design in all aspects of the proposal.


This is a single stage Competition with the aim of identifing the most appropriate proposal, which best satisfies the general and specific objectives of the contest.

Taichung Gateway Park : Taiwan Architecture Competition

Taichung City Government has been actively pursing the planning work for Taichung Gateway City in response to globalization trends, anticipated growth of Taiwan-China trade, Central Taiwan development objectives as well as Taichung’s own vision to become a livable international metropolis. The goal is to create a visionary, innovative and international urban environment while at the same time establishing close links between Central Taiwan and the rest of the world.

Taichung Gateway City covers an approximately 254-hectare area that includes the former Taichung (Shuinan) Airport and its vicinities. According to Taichung’s municipal urban plan, at the center of Taichung Gateway City will be an expansive green space—Taichung Gateway Park—that meanders from the north to the south of the entire development area with approximately 68-hectare. Areas surrounding the park will be divided into four districts according to their features: Eco Residential District, Gateway District, Cultural Business District, and Innovation R&D District. In addition, Taichung Dome, Taichung Convention and Exhibition Center, and Taiwan Tower and Taichung City Cultural Center will all be integrated into Taichung Gateway Park. Therefore, the development of the park will become the most significant milestone for Taichung Gateway City.

Besides offering extensive and winding green open space, Taichung Gateway Park will be developed as an eco-park. Utilizing renewable energies and an intelligent park management system, Taichung Gateway Park will play a pivotal role toward a successful the overall development of Taichung Gateway City. To this end, an international competition is being held to solicit visionary and innovative planning and landscaping proposals from the best design firms home and abroad.

d3 is an organization committed to advancing innovative positions in architecture, art, and design by providing a collaborative environment for architects, artists, designers, and students from around the world. Our New York- and Monterrey, Mexico-based program of exhibitions, events, competitions, and publications is focused on generating dialogue and collaboration across geographic, ideological, and disciplinary boundaries in design and the built environment. Unbuilt designs of any project type are eligible, including purely theoretical projects and unbuilt client-sponsored projects (e.g., buildings, interiors, transportation infrastructure, monuments, etc.). Projects under construction or otherwise apparently assured of construction are ineligible.

Re-Skinning Awards, International Competition

The Zerofootprint Re-Skinning Awards invites the best minds in architecture, design, building, and engineering to submit green building projects that demonstrate the innovative use of energy retrofitting technologies. Retrofitting and re-skinning involve the use of design solutions to dramatically reduce the environmental footprint of older, energy-inefficient buildings. This competition seeks to recognize the year's most progressive retrofitting projects that are making our cities more sustainable.
