One Hyde Park London; Rendering, Photo and Video

Earth's Most Expensive Condominium: One Hyde Park in London, England

Architects: Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners

With smaller units selling for $10 million plus, and an elegant penthouse offered at $220 million, anybody looking for a central London residence better have a big pile of cash before checking out One Hyde Park.

From the outside the buildings are pleasant if not spectacular, offering high function rather than leading edge form. The complex features a private cinema, 21-metre swimming pool, golf simulator, wine cellar, panic rooms and even a tunnel to the exclusive Mandarin Oriental hotel nearby.

Pelli Clarke Pelli create wondrous, imaginative buildings

Pelli Clarke Pelli has been a leader in environmentally sustainable design for over a decade. PCP Arch designs included sustainable strategies even before the U.S. Green Building Council established its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. PCP designed the country’s first residential tower to achieve LEED Platinum, the program’s highest rating. Their vision of sustainability extends beyond the technical concerns of reducing a building’s energy consumption; they believe that to be truly sustainable, a building's design must address the economic and cultural factors that make a project successful long into the future.

Gehry's New World Center in Miami opens to symphony of rave reviews

Though there was almost a divorce during the pre-construction phase (the parking lot and adjacent park were taken away from Gehry), the fresh home for the New World Symphony in Miami Beach has wowed music lovers and architecture critics alike.

Here are a series of photos, from rendering to construction through completion, together with a time lapse video showing the stages of construction of the New World Center by Frank Gehry, in Miami Beach.

Dalian International Conference Center, China; Renderings to Construction

Much of the world's most innovative and daring architecture is in Asia, and the new Dalian International Conference Center in China is more proof in the pudding. Designed by Austrian architectural firm Coop Himmelb(l)au, the building is gorgeous and points the way for functional yet elegant urban design.

Here is a pictorial taking you from architectural renderings through the beginnings of construction / foundation, up to where it is today, nearing completion.

One building the Dalian Center reminds me of is the Solar Stadium in Taiwan (designed by architects Toyo Ito of Japan). Take a look:

Daniel Libeskind creates sharp, inspiring buildings

New meets old: Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in Toronto, Canada

Love them or hate them, nobody can say that Daniel Libeskind's buildings lack imagination and daring. Though it's been said that some of Daniel's creations are better for viewing than for living or working (hello ROM...) in, Libeskind's output pushes the boundaries of architectural design to the point where technology and materials allow advances in building construction.

The fact that the Daniel Libeskind Studio is also developing and implementing sustainable design policies is like cream cheese icing on a delicious pineapple carrot cake, just keeps getting better.

Please enjoy some images of buildings designed by Daniel Libeskind, and if you know of other top tier structures from his studio, please [post pics of links in the Comments section below.

Top 5 Architectural Rendering companies worldwide

Best Architecture Visualization Service

For the past month or so I have been researching the best architectural rendering companies in the world, and have now edited down to a list of the Top 5 Architectural Visualization companies worldwide, plus a few Honourable Mentions. I understand that this is an entirely subjective affair, and the companies I have chosen are those that can make buildings, properties and interior rooms "sparkle and shine."

I hope to expand this post a bit next week, explaining what to me seem to be the strengths of each of these architectural visualization companies. Readers are invited to post alternative lists or additional suggestions in the Comments section below; we'll expand the Honourable Mentions list soon and hopefully have a Top Ten or Top Twenty list available by summer.

As I work as Director of Sales at DO HERE Digital, it would be unfair to rank the companies on this list, so I have presented them alphabetically. Here is the list of the 5 highest quality companies producing dramatic, elegant architectural renderings that can be used for zoning, permitting, marketing and sales:
